a Rustic Christmas Bushel Basket

 Welcome to Day 6 of my 12 Days of Christmas crafting celebration! Wheww… now I know how the elves feel, trying to get so many things made for Christmas!  They are probably smart, and start in January, instead of waiting until November to think, “maybe we should start working on Christmas projects now.”   I think I work better at the last minute than I do starting months in advance, anyway though. Today’s project involves this old bushel basket I got {Read More}

Rustic Sign for Christmas – 12 Days of Christmas {Day 5}

Rustic Sign for Christmas – 12 Days of Christmas {Day 5} The project I had planned for Day 5 of my 12 Days of Christmas was a bust.  It just wasn’t turning out as I’d envisioned it, so I was wracking my brains to come up with another project.  Then I realized I didn’t have a sign planned yet, and I love doing signs for Christmas.  While soaking in the bathtub later (a.k.a. my “office”), I looked up at the rustic {Read More}

Nativity Silhouette Candle Holder – 12 Days of Christmas {day 3}

We don’t have recycling pickup, since we live outside the city limits, which is why you will frequently see projects created by me from things most people take to the recycling center – like tin cans and glass jars. That means I have lots of tin cans and jars to craft with…lots.  If you save glass jars too, this Day 3 project for my 12 Days of Christmas celebration is for you! I almost feel guilty calling it a “project”, because {Read More}

Cake Pan Christmas Chalkboard – 12 Days of Christmas {day 2}

 I hope you rummaged through you recycling bin yesterday, and have gotten started making yourself a Cookie Cutter Window Candy Jar – you could whip up several of them in an evening!  I’ve been happily munching on the soft peppermints in my jar for several days.  At this rate, I’ll gain 10 pounds before November has even ended! Day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas celebration won’t make you gain any weight at all, but it might make you want {Read More}

Gingerbread Man Painted Jar

I’ve been as busy as an elf in Santa’s workshop, getting ready for my 1st (and possibly annual, if it goes well) 12 Days of Christmas event, and it’s finally here!  Thanks for joining me!   My goal was to create projects that aren’t difficult, and don’t require too many supplies, and today’s project fits that bill, so let’s jump right in! If there’s one thing that there is a lot of during the holidays, it’s sweets, and I wanted to come up with {Read More}

An Antique Mirror Makeover, Rusty Old Ice Skates, and a Special Visit

Last week I had a little time to kill while I was in town, so I made a quick trip into an antique store.  I spotted this little antique mirror in the window display.  Sorry about this awful photo – I took it at night, after I’d removed the mirror.  The original dark black paint hid the pretty carved details in the frame, and the paint was looking worse for the wear anyway, so I decided to give it a {Read More}

Barnyard Animals Rustic Sign

Inspiration for a project often comes in the most unlikely of places, but the inspiration for my latest project surprised even me. It wasn’t Pinterest, it wasn’t an arts and crafts show, it wasn’t another blog…it was while I was eating at a fast food restaurant.

Autumn Photo Transfer to Wood

Did you take any photos this autumn, while the pretty leaves were still on the trees?  I’m so glad I did.  It’s a great excuse to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty that surrounds my home.  Two of my favorite shots were of the view looking down the gravel road that’s in front of our house.  One of the shots was taken on a beautifully foggy morning, and the other was taken on a bright and sunny day.  Taking photos doesn’t {Read More}

Little Wooden Tool Tote – Business in a Box!

I think I may have whined about this once (or a hundred) times before, but as much as I love having my online Etsy shop, I detest shipping the things I sell.   Yeah, I know detest is a pretty strong word, but I pretty strongly dislike the whole process.  Several years ago, I had lofty plans to really make my packaging look “branded” and special.  I wanted that “brown paper packages, tied up in strings kind of look, so {Read More}
