Masculine Milk Paint Makeover

For the last several months, I’ve been on the lookout for an old dresser, desk, or cabinet, or anything similar that is about hip high.  Don’t ask me why I didn’t take a careful look around my own home, because I had the very thing I needed already – it was just buried under other junk in my outbuilding.  Let that be a lesson to me, to shop my own shed first, before shopping elsewhere. I bought this old desk {Read More}

Farmhouse Kitchen Remodel – A Room with a View

I didn’t plan to show you my farmhouse kitchen remodel until Friday, because I had a lot of photos to go through before posting about it, but my mom is going on a camping trip today and she wasn’t too happy when she found out she wouldn’t get to see my kitchen until she got home late Sunday night. I stayed up until the wee hours this morning finishing this post for you, Mom – I hope you like it {Read More}

An Old Lady Gets a New “Dress”

I’ve had this old gal for over a year. She was too large to ship and I don’t have a booth space,  so I had no way to sell her. I already had several accent tables in my home and didn’t have a place for her. Although I think she looks lovely in her sunny yellow color, it just didn’t work for my decor. So, she’s sat in my workshop, stacked a mile high with junk. Every time I walked past her, I felt {Read More}

Local History Seed Bag Chair

I love reusing things with some history behind them, so I was thrilled to find a seed sack from a local business, which has been family-owned since 1880. Geo. Keller & Sons I decided to put it to use on this harp back chair. The chair was originally dark, stained wood, so I repainted it Bungalow Gold. I would have preferred an antique white, but I already had a full can of the Bungalow Gold. I was a little paranoid cutting {Read More}

Beauty in the Beast

Here’s the beauty That was in this”beast”. My daughter’s friend said it looked like a coffin. I wasn’t sure if wanted to try to save it, or take it aparat it to and use the parts for other projects. I pondered it for several days. It was so structurally sound that I hated to destroy it as a whole piece of furniture, so I decided I’d see what I could do with it. The veneer on top was beyond working with, so {Read More}

Crank Up the Radio

So, yesterday I told you that I really wasn’t thinking when I bid and won this antique radio at an auction. I didn’t have any great reason for buying it – it was cheap and kinda cool is all I can think of. Well, sometimes…it pays to check your brains at the auction door! Here he is today. His insides (record player and radio box) have been removed.  I sanded him down all over, repainted with Valspar Churchill Hotel Wheat, {Read More}

Sheet Music Dresser

I was so inspired by Miss Mustard Seed’s Sheet Music Dresser, never thinking I would actually make one like it, until I won this very similar dresser for $1 – yes, ONE dollar (and I got a head and footboard with it for that $1). This is what it looked like in my shed when I brought it home. The top was bad…really bad.  Chipped veneer, stains, not to mention the paint job. Here it is after the first coat {Read More}

Transformation of a Table

I got this table for $2 at an auction. Not too hard to see why it was only $2, huh? After getting it home, I stared at it for a while. Could that much ugly really be changed? I started sanding to at least get rid of the loose, flecking off paint. There really is wood under all that green.   Lots of paint, some vintage sheet music & pages from a child’s story book later… It was worth the {Read More}
