Thursday’s Theme – {My Hang-Ups}

We’ve all got our hang-ups, right?  Well, one of the many I have, is my love of old wood.  I don’t just bring it home piece by piece – I’ll bring it by the truckload if I can get it.  But, what started out as a massive pallet of wood, purchased almost 2 years ago at an auction, is down to about 25 boards.  I wish I would have taken a photo of the whole pallet of planks, so you {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1900’s Sewing Goods Images

Today, I have an assortment of sewing-related advertisements from the early 1900’s to share with you.  These would be wonderful for as framed art for a sewing/craft room or studio. (Click on these images to enlarge and save.) I especially love the small emblem inside the DMC advertisement.Here is an ad for a set of household and sewing scissors. Here is just one pair of the scissors, with the background removed. I especially love this image, because I love bolts {Read More}

Apothecary Bottles Bible Verse Photograph & Antique Hymn Page Printable

 These beautiful antique apothecary bottles reminded me of the verse from Proverbs 17 that talks about a joyful heart being “good medicine”, so I’ve turned it into a free printable for you. Click HERE to print the version that doesn’t have my watermark on it, but please only share this watermarked version on social media.  Thank you! Hope you enjoy this old hymn.  I’m unfamiliar with it, but would love to hear it played on the piano. Here’s the same {Read More}

DIY Apothecary Jars – Cheap & Quick!

DIY Apothecary Jars Recently, I shared several antique apothecary labels with you, for Antique Graphics Wednesday.  I have lots of old apothecary bottles, but sometimes I’m hesitant about altering original bottles, but I love using new jars and bottles, that might otherwise be thrown away, and altering them to make them look old. So when I stumbled across some cute little candles in jars with lids at Walmart for less than $1, I knew I was really going to get {Read More}

How to Make a Perfect Book Page Bow

How to Make a Perfect Book Page Bow It all started with a book page bow banner I made and sold in my Etsy shop…. Another customer saw it and asked if I would make her 100 really small bows that she planned to use on baby shower invitations. “Oh sure – no problem!“, I responded. I do enjoy making them, but my kitchen counter is now decorated with spiderweb-like strands of hot glue, I burned myself a few times, and I {Read More}

Thursday’s Theme – {Sitting Down on the Job}

I’ve been sitting down on the job again, working on more projects with old chairs. Believe it or not, even after all the chair projects I did a few weeks ago, I still have more chairs left in my workshop.  Seriously, where they all came from, I don’t know, because I don’t even remember buying them all.  Anyway, I have this long counter in my workshop that I’d love to actually do some work on, but it’s been stacked up {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Ice Coupon Checks & the History Behind Them

I love the crisp color and graphics on these little coupon checks that were issued by the Stillwell Cold Storage Co. in Hannibal, Missouri. These coupons came 4 to a page, in sets of 10 pages in a booklet. This is the cover of the booklet. A little fascinating detail about this company: The Stillwell Cold Storage Co. was owned by a very wealthy Hannibal resident, named Amos Stillwell, who initially made his fortune in the pork packing industry and {Read More}
