Antique Grocery Can Label

I have a “thing” for old labels, and I found the most charming grocery can label a few weeks ago, at an antique store in my son’s college town. The colors are super bright and vivid, and there are really sweet images on each side of the label.  One side has an image or corn and a tomato and the other side shows a log cabin in the wilderness. Just print it and wrap it around one of your empty {Read More}

Antique Clothing Store Advertisement

One of my antique store finds last week was a yearbook from our local high school from the 1920’s.  In the back of the yearbook is a “businessman’s section”with advertisements for local businesses.  Obviously in the 1920’s women didn’t own many businesses to place an advertisement in the yearbook.  Times sure have changed,haven’t they? It was interesting to see a few businesses that are still operating in my city,but most of them are gone now.  All of the banks that {Read More}

Weekending – To Market, To Market

You may recall for my weekend edition last week(changing the name from “Keeping Time” to “Weekending”), I shared a farmer’s market inspired wall that I’m absolutely in love with.  I could’t get it out of my mind all week, so I came up with a smaller scale DIY version using pallet wood. I’d still love to actually build a wall-size version, but this one makes me happy until then! I’m a contributing blogger over at My Repurposed Life, and you’ll {Read More}

DIY Vintage Railroad Sign

Do you recall my ordeal last year getting our yearly family photos taken – the ones that required my family and I to jump on and off of railroad tracks, fake smile and give me grief? Well, as much as I would have loved to replay that scenario again this year – I totally forgot!  I usually shoot our family photos right before one of my college kids returns to school, but I didn’t even think about it until we {Read More}

Last weekend my husband and I took my youngest son and his friend to the state fair.  It was the last day {Read More}

Has the “thrift” Gone Out of Thrift Stores?

I used to be a die-hard thrift store shopper, but over the last year or so, I’ve discovered that unless you are looking for used clothes, paperback books or ugly dishes, thrift stores are starting to hike up the prices on many things.  Normally you expect to pay more at thrift stores than you would at a garage sale, but he prices were still very reasonable and affordable, but isn’t always the case these days. For example I used to buy vintage {Read More}

Back to School – Antique Calendar Graphics

Have your kids started back to school yet?  Most of the schools in my area are back in session, but I ease back into schoolwork slowly  with my son, working on just a few subjects until our homechool co-op resumes classes at the beginning of September.  I’ll be teaching a writing class for the high school kids in our group this year, so I’m gearing up for that class and hoping it goes well. I came across some graphics I’ve never shared before, {Read More}
