Big Blue – an Antique Counter

I recently mentioned that I was offered an antique counter from the same man who I got all the antique windows from.  My husband and son went and picked it up last weekend and brought it home.  I truly have no idea yet what I’m going to do with it.  It’s HUGE – over 9 ft. long. No – I don’t have any place for it inside my house. Yes – I still asked my husband to bring it inside so I {Read More}

Thrift Store Magazine Rack and a Silhouette Tutorial

I’ve had several people comment that they bought a Silhouette Cameo, but haven’t figured out how to use it, and  since I used it on the project I’m sharing with you today, I’m including a tutorial for how I did it. Okay – about this project!  There’s pros and cons to being a stockpiler.  The good thing is, I usually have on hand what I need to work on projects, because I have a little of everything.  The downside is, I {Read More}

Thursday’s Theme – {Tattered Antique Book Stacks}

Last week, I brought home the most beautiful box full of extremely old German books.  They didn’t look all that beautiful as I found them, because they had extremely dirty, torn up covers, but take off those old covers and brace yourself for a real vision of beauty. I get a little giddy when I discover the binding of the books covered with book pages.  I’m not sure why some books have this, but I’m so glad they do. I’m {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Two 1900’s Children Image Book Plates

Today I’ve got 2 of the sweetest antique images to share with you.  Both came from an undated German book, that appears to be from the late 1800’s or early 1900’s.  These would make beautiful framed prints.  By the way, while you can certainly print any of my images from your home printer, I have been really impressed with images I’ve had printed at Staples on their Color Expressions paper.  It’s thicker than regular paper and has a really pretty {Read More}

{Seeing} Signs

I love my collection of antique eyeglasses and have several advertisements from early 1900’s optometrists, so my newest sign on an antique window is inspired by both of them. I love the image of the old spectacles in this advertisement, so I used it on the lower portion of the window. I liked the name of this company, but it would have taken me forever to modify the text enough for the Silhouette to be able to “read” the edges, {Read More}

Sonday – Just As I Am – Antique Hymn Page Printable

Aren’t you glad that Jesus takes us “as I am”, and doesn’t expect us to have our act all together.  He knows every single thing about us – every good and bad thing we’ve ever done, and loves us despite it all.  Only God can love like that.  The wonderful thing is, God doesn’t want us to stay in the same mess he found us in.  He wants us to change and become more like him. Though conviction rarely feels {Read More}

Pretty Little Firkin and a Clock

I know I’m preaching to the choir when I say this, but isn’t paint just the next best thing to peanut butter and jelly?  If only it was as easy to fix all of life’s problems as it is to fix something ugly with paint, we’d have world peace within an hour.  I never cease to be amazed at how something can go from worn out and ugly, to totally transformed – in so little time, and for so little {Read More}

Antique Cabinet Door Chalkboard

When I brought home my hoard of antique windows recently, and did some dumpster diving in the salvage that was torn out of a very old building, I found a lovely old cabinet door buried in the dumpster. The inset panel made it perfect for converting into a chalkboard, so I did a dry-brushed coat of white paint over the frame and added a drawer pull to the bottom to hold the chalk. I was sorta hoping it wouldn’t sell, {Read More}

Wooden Twine Holder – Pinned and Done!

I want to send out a heart-felt “thank you” to all of you who shared your stories, wrote well-wishes and are sending up prayers for my son while he’s at basic training.  I had no idea so many of you have been where I’m at as a mom and have grown sons who’ve already been-there/done-that.  It really does my heart good to hear your boys survived and are better men for it.Okay, enough about me!  Do you have a mile-long {Read More}
