My Barn Door Dream Came True!

I know I’ve mentioned at least a few (dozen) times that I want a barn door in my house.   I really wasn’t sure if it would ever happen, so I made a cabinet with a mini barn door on it. I love that cabinet and use it all the time, but I really wanted a bigger version, so when my husband built another cabinet into the wall in our entryway, he fashioned the door to look like a barn door. It {Read More}

Vintage Grocery Hanging Scale Clock

Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile how much I love using vintage pieces in my home.  I used to find most of my pieces at auctions, but I haven’t had much time to go to them lately, and the few I went to turned out to be duds.

Entryway Makeover Progress

Things were going wonderful on our entryway makeover. My husband had brought home a trailer full of pallets. He cut them all apart, and got 2 walls in the entryway done.  He made me a built in cabinet to store paint that I use frequently, and I was loving it. It was the pallet wood entryway of my dreams…

My New Farmhouse Kitchen Window Shelves

“Remember, you hate to dust”…      “Remember, you hate to dust”…          “ Remember, you hate to dust”… I chanted that to myself, as I decorated my new kitchen window shelves. My knees aren’t what they used to be, and getting up and down on a chair to clean the shelves above the windows is only something I will do…

Barn Door Bedroom Hooks

I rarely check Craigs List, but I got lucky one of the few times I did check it last year.  I’m not sure if this was a small barn door, or a heavy barn gate, but I was so glad it was still available when I called about it.  There were actually several to choose from, so I bought this one, plus another one that I used as a headboard in our shed-turned-guestroom. I thought I might use this one as a {Read More}

Springtime on a Country Road

I did so much whining about the cold during winter, that I figured I should try to give equal time singing the praises of spring.  I’m also trying to capture my beautiful country road in photos in all four seasons, and today was the most gorgeous day to take photos.  The weather was absolutely perfect, the birds were chirping, and on a day like this, all seems completely right with the world. This image is available as a printable without my {Read More}

Farmhouse Bathroom Vanity Reveal

I should have titled this post “Farmhouse Bathroom – Take 3”, because I just can’t seem to stop teaking my bathroom.  A few weeks ago I showed you the makeover in progress that I was giving our antique cabinet bathroom vanity.  I thought I’d be showing the makeover to you in just a few days, but one thing led to another, and before I knew it, the entire bathroom ended up getting refreshed in the process.  So let’s recap… Here’s how it looked when we {Read More}

Antique Cabinet Bathroom Vanity Update

Unless you’re my mother, or one of the 20 readers I had back in 2011, you probably don’t remember the antique cabinet that I found at a thrift store for only $8. A few months later we moved into our current home, and we converted the cabinet into a bathroom vanity when we remodeled one of our bathrooms.

My electric fireplace, our bedroom ceiling & cow company

For Christmas, my husband bought me a lovely electric fireplace.  It has an open space to hold our dvd player and game system, and a cabinet on each side of the fireplace, to hold dvds. As soon as I opened the box, my husband said, “You can paint it if you want.”  There’s nothing wrong with how it looks, and it’s lovely, but the new wood finish looks a bit out of place in our living room, and knows me well enough to know {Read More}

DIY Dictionary Page State Shape Art

I discovered a new special shape font set “dingbats” last week, and this one could be used for so many fun projects.  This font set has the state shapes of all 50 states, as well as various country shapes.  It’s called DingMaps (download HERE), and it’s a free font.  These shapes could easily be used to create stencils, but I used one as a super easy way to make state shape wall art on old book pages. This project is {Read More}
