A Road Trip and a Church Steeple

I’m running on about half a brain cell today, because I didn’t get to bed until about 5 in the morning.  I made a last-minute decision to go on a little road trip with my son yesterday.  He was running in a night race about 5 hours away from our house, so in addition to 10 hours of driving time, we left several hours early so I could hit some antique stores along the way.  It’s been awhile since I’ve {Read More}

Vintage Advertisement Buttermilk Soap

 A few months ago, I purchased a lot of late 1800’s magazines, because they all had beautiful illustrations on the covers and were filled with wonderful images like this vintage advertisement for Buttermilk Toilet Soap.  This would be a perfect graphic to put on a glass jar to hold bath salts, cotton balls etc. (image transfer on glass tutorial here).  It would also be pretty as an iron on image on a towel.  Here’s the full advertisement the image came from. {Read More}

I hope I don’t totally kick myself later, but I’ve decided it’s time to part with a few pieces that have been some of my favorites.  It isn’t that I don’t still love them, it’s that I think it’s just time to make room for some new pieces.  After awhile, you just start ignoring things that you love, because you’re so used to seeing them, so rotating pieces out keeps our home from looking like the “same old, same old” {Read More}

Repurposed Half Table into Nightstand

My bedroom remodel is coming along … ssslowlyyyy, since my husband can only work on it on his days off, and then only if something else isn’t going on, so to keep myself from having impatient, nagging fits, I’ve been working on projects for the bedroom.   The minute this remodel is finished, I’ll be moving all my finished projects in while my husband is carrying his tools out.  The dust won’t even settle before I start dragging things in! I’ve {Read More}

Antique Tin Can Advertisements

I was looking through photos and images that I’ve saved on my computer a few days ago, and discovered several antique advertisements that I’d edited, but never shared before. Old food advertisements make wonderful vintage style wall art to hang in the kitchen, or you can use them as an image transfer on flour sack towels. This one is a Heinz strawberry preserves tin can image.   This advertisement is for Dr. Price’s baking powder.     Here is the tin can image by itself. {Read More}

DIY Bird Silhouette Candle Holder

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.  We drove to Arkansas to visit one of my sons at college.  It was a brief trip, but it’s always nice to see him, plus he was running out of meals tickets to use in the college cafeteria, so I loaded him up with enough food to hold him over until school gets out. Last week I shared this bird silhouette music page on Facebook, and one of my followers requested that I come up {Read More}

Farmhouse Bathroom Vanity Reveal

I should have titled this post “Farmhouse Bathroom – Take 3”, because I just can’t seem to stop teaking my bathroom.  A few weeks ago I showed you the makeover in progress that I was giving our antique cabinet bathroom vanity.  I thought I’d be showing the makeover to you in just a few days, but one thing led to another, and before I knew it, the entire bathroom ended up getting refreshed in the process.  So let’s recap… Here’s how it looked when we {Read More}
