I can hardly believe it’s October already, but the calendar doesn’t lie, so it must be true. I’m afraid to blink, or it will be Christmas! As much as I love the cheery red decor in my kitchen, it looked very summery, and I waited a little too long to bring it in. It’ll be perfect again when it’s closer to Christmas, but in the meantime, I wanted some autumn decor in the kitchen. I don’t have room to store boxes {Read More}

Make Your Own Tiered Stand Tutorial
Over the last several years, I’ve received lots of questions about the tiered stands my husband and I make, so I finally got around to photographing the steps for it so I could write up a tutorial, and show you how to make your own! I’ve seen these made different ways, usually using glue to hold the pieces together, but glue isn’t always the sturdiest thing, so we came up with what we think is a better method.
Family Reunion – Yay! or Yuk?
When’s the last time you attended a family reunion? Do you love going to them, or do you force yourself to go out of duty? My parents are here visiting, and when my mom told me there was a family reunion she wanted to attend, I’ll admit, I wasn’t at all excited. Many of the people I haven’t see since I was a child, so the prospect of saying, “I’m Carol’s daughter, or “Alfred was my grandfather didn’t excite me. {Read More}
Weekending – Hand Lettering and Sketching
I have a serious crush on hand lettering and sketching, and am in awe of those who are gifted with such talent. This is a public domain studio book of hand lettering that has over 250 pages. If you love hand letterering, it’s a must see! The lettering and fall theme of this lettered page on paper is so pretty in this autumn vignette via Vibeke Design. I discovered an online shop, called Hand Lettering Company. They have an amazing line of {Read More}

Vintage Bread Bakery Advertisement
I’ve been cleaning like a mad woman for the last several days, in anticipation of m parents visit. I always worry about them making the long drive, but they arrived safely this afternoon, and it’s nice to finally sit down and just relax with them. I’m looking forward to the next two weeks, and have several projects I hope my mom will help me work on! This old bread bakery advertisement came from the same 1920’s high school yearbook as {Read More}
