It Does a Body Good
Sometimes you just have to milk things for all they’re worth, and I’ve been busy milkin’ this Milk and Cream Co. image like crazy this week. I brought home a large lazy Susan from a barn sale, (which was really just a yard sale in a cool old barn), and gave it the Milk & Cream treatment. …and another antique window got the same treatment, …and so did a cabinet door….and I’m still not tired of using this image, so {Read More}
Repurposed Books Light – A Bright Idea
Once in awhile, I have a “light bulb moment”. Usually I have to tinker around with things for awhile before I figure out what I’m going to do with them, but when I found a plain white light bulb socket at a thrift store, and I knew I had an Edison-style light bulb at home, the light in my head went on, and I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it. A few antique books, 2 screws, and {Read More}

Good Pickin’s
My mom, sister and I have hit a lot of antique stores, yard sales, and a flea market in the last week, so I wanted to show you some of my favorite finds. This antique singer sewing machine and stand are gorgeous. The artwork on these old machines is amazing. I can’t understand why today’s sewing machine manufacturers don’t do something this beautiful on the machines they produce. Only 1 drawer has a pull on it, but I think a {Read More}

A Road Trip…Home
My mom, sister and my sister’s four kids came to visit for my middle son’s graduation, so we went on a little road trip to visit our extended family a few hours away. While there, we went to Starved Rock State Park. I hadn’t been there since I was a child, and had forgotten how stunning the scenery is. There are quite a few trails through a heavily-wooded forest. It’s one of those places I’d love to bring a chair {Read More}
A Blue Ribbon Moment
Did you ever win a ribbon in a science or art fair when you were a kid? I remember doing a science fair project in grade school on cacti and succulents. I worked really hard to make my aquarium planted with them look great and wrote the best report I could. Every class got to go through the gym to see all the science project displays and I couldn’t wait for my class’s turn. I knew I had won a {Read More}
Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1906 Santa Fe Railroad Advertisement
As we’re heading into vacation time of the year, here’s a nice little Santa Fe Railway logo, that came from a 1906 Ladies Home Journal. Here’s the complete original advertisement the image came from. A little background about the California Limited passenger train: It made its first run in 1892 from Chicago to Los Angeles, where it made continuous round-trips on a 2-1/2 day schedule. For quite a few years, it was a very classy train ride, billed as “The Finest {Read More}
