Sweet and Simple Wood Scrap Wall Hook

During the summer, when I taught a “junk art” class at church summer camp, I taught the kids how to make a Nail Head Initial Art (seen here).  I pre-cut the wood pieces before class, and the kids stained the wood, and did the nail art.    A few days ago, I discovered a piece of that wood that I used as a sample.  Since it was already stained, I figured I should make a quick project with it, rather than add it {Read More}

Antique Wallpaper Invoice Image

Today, I’m sharing a wonderful antique wallpaper invoice from 1900.  It has a wonderful assortment of lettering on it.  I think it would look great as a decorative wall print for a craft room, or as an image transfer. {CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE}   Here’s the reverse image for transfer projects.   {Click HERE to see more beautiful antique advertisement images.

Dog Tired – Repurposed Drawer Pet Bed

Last year when my son went off to college, I don’t know who had a harder time with it, me or his dog, Pico.  Pico seemed “lost” for several weeks after he left, and it broke my heart.  He would sit in the front yard and look down our gravel road, and I know he was looking for my son.  He didn’t know what to do with himself inside the house, because he was used to following my son wherever {Read More}

Victorian Style Vintage Playing Cards Images

Today I have 2 wonderful 1800’s style images, featuring a mother with her son, and a matching card with the son and his father.  Both images came from vintage playing cards.  I love the vivid red and blue colors on them. {CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE} The mother card has the word “dearest” inside the banner, and the father card says, “The Earl”.  I’m also including them without the text, so you can add your own if desired. I removed the text {Read More}

Spring Printable Antique Sheet Music

Have you seen this video clip that made the rounds on Facebook awhile back?  This is precisely how I feel! Are you sick to death of winter yet?  I always am by this time of year.  I really only like winter when we get snow close to Christmas, but it seems like we always get the majority of our snow in January and February, when I am SO over winter, and am ready for some sunshine and green again. Okay, {Read More}

DIY Pantry Storage and Decor Ideas

I had no idea when mice invaded my pantry and I turned popcorn tins into chalkboard pantry tins, that so many other people had the same problem, and would like my idea, but when Hometalk featured it on their Facebook page, it went crazy!  So much so, that Hometalk asked me to curate a Pantry Storage Hacks board, and I was happy to do so.  I loaded the board with the best pantry storage and decor ideas, and can’t wait to try {Read More}

DIY Lavender sign

Ever since I started dreaming of the future lavender harvest I hope to have, thoughts of lavender keep creeping into my mind, so I had to do something lavenderish (spell check says that isn’t a word – it should be!)  I’m going to think positive that I’ll have lots of lovely lavender soon, but in the meantime, I made a new lavender sign for my obsession. I grabbed an old board in my stash, and put a light coat of light {Read More}

Vintage Style Pantry Labels

I’m still busy working on organizing my house, and still have a very long way to go, but I decided to focus on my pantry for a bit.  I love using glass jars in my pantry, so you can see the contents inside, but I have 3 glass jars filled with powdery white stuff.  Now, I can stick my finger in and tell the difference between flour and powdered sugar, but I can’t tell the difference between flour and baking mix, {Read More}

Clementine Crate Makeover

I love projects that don’t cost me a cent, are easy, and end up being so pretty, I’m left wondering why I didn’t make them a long time ago.  This is one of those projects!  I’ve had this clementine crate for over 3 years now.  It was filled with fruit, which I used when I was styling my kitchen for the photos in my kitchen remodel post (seen HERE).  It was torture for my kids not to eat the fruit {Read More}
