Rustic Brown Paper Pot

Sometimes new projects are a huge success, and other times, they are a dismal failure.  Today’s project turned out wonderful, but only because another project was a dismal failure first.  Last year about this time, I made a canvas bucket bag (seen here), which I absolutely loved, and I always thought it might be possible to make something similar out of brown paper, and I decided I would attempt it.  My husband walked in while I was working on it, {Read More}

Looking Back and What’s Ahead in 2015

2014 was another busy year for changes around our house, and I haven’t even shared them all on the blog yet.  The biggest project we completed was our old shed that we converted into a guest room/photo studio, which then became a bedroom for our oldest son when he switched from an out-of-state college, to our local collage.  He’ll graduate from college in the spring, and once he gets his own apartment, it will revert back to a guest room/photo studio {Read More}

Antique Clock Face Graphics from School Book

Recently I picked up an antique school book, which was filled with lots of charming illustrations, and of course the first ones that caught my attention were the telling time pages, with antique clock face images on them.  The first day of 2015 seemed like a good time to share them!. It’s easy to print these out, and attach them to old cd’s, or a round piece of wood for an instant “antique” clock face to display in a vignette. Here {Read More}

How to Install a Wood Plank Wall and my “Dear John”

After taking all of November and most of December off from house remodeling projects, I’ve been itching to start making more progress on our to-do list, and the next room on the list has been our bedroom.  It’s still in the beginning stages, but we’re making some progress.  The walls in the room were originally just thin paneling.  The corner seams were never finished, and there was no trim around the ceiling, so I couldn’t wait to make it disappear.  Rather than tear {Read More}

Answering Questions about the Silhouette Cameo and A New Canvas Wall Print

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the Silhouette machine I use to cut stencils for signs and canvas wall prints, and I’ve always responded to the individually, but I’ve had several more readers contact me lately, and rather than continuing to respond individually, I figured it was time to write a post about it, because obviously, many of my readers have questions about it.  One reader in particular sent me a list of questions, so I’ll address those first, {Read More}

Wooden Tray Makeover as Antique Crate

I bought a wooden tray a few weeks ago at a thrift store, and pulled it out recently to work on.  I batted around a few ideas of how I wanted to fix it up, and what popped into my head, was to make it look like the top of an old shipping crate.  I searched for inspiration on Google, and ebay, and then I found this antique crate on Etsy. The crate is from the same company as this {Read More}

Repurposed Drawers and Crates for Craft Supplies

Does anyone else have a hard time getting back into the swing of things after Christmas?  I feel like until I get all the decorations and the tree taken down, it’s hard to do much else, but I did work on a little organizational project today. When we “remodeled” one wall in the kitchen to install an oven range hood (seen here), and removed the little crates that held my spices, I wanted to find a new use for them. {Read More}

Antique New Year Postcard

  With New Year’s just a few days away, here’s a beautiful antique postcard that I picked up at an antique store when we were visiting family in New Mexico a few months ago.    Enjoy! Blessings,

Blogging with the Pros – I Wish I Would Have Known… Blog Mistakes from 6 Bloggers

Blogging has a huge learning curve…and I mean really huge.  If I had invested the number of hours I’ve spent learning about blogging into college, I’d have initials behind my name right now. There are SO many things I wish I would have known as a brand new blogger, that would have saved me countless hours and headaches down the road.  Blogging is more than a few photos and words on the screen. To help other new, or would-be bloggers {Read More}
