Welcome to the Best of DIY Event! I’ve been looking forward to this event for weeks! Buckle your seat belt, because today I’m teaming up with an amazing group of 24 other bloggers, and we’ve all created projects that YOU can DIY as well! Are you ready to see MY project for this event?!!! It is the easiest project in the world, is super inexpensive to make, and will usher Spring into your home!
Scrap Wood Table Trivets
While my husband has been busy installing plank walls in our bedroom, I’ve been like a squirrel gathering nuts, except I’ve been gathering up all the little scrap wood pieces that he’s trimmed off the edges of the boards. I really am starting to think I might have a problem with a capital P when it comes to wood. If I find a piece that is bigger than my thumb, I don’t want to see it end up in the {Read More}
Repurposed Farm Tools Wall Hooks
Spring is definitely in the air, isn’t it? Today it was warm enough at my house, that I put on a short sleeve shirt, and had the front door open for awhile! The beautiful day reminded me of some old farm tools I’ve had sitting in my workshop. They both appear to have been some kind of tractor implement, and they are blissfully rusty!
Valspar Chalky Finish Paint Review – Painted Mason Jars & Sign
Have you heard the news that Lowes is now carrying new Valspar Chalky Finish Paint? This is great news for those who like premixed chalk style paint, but don’t live near any retailers of Annie Sloan or other chalk style paints. I heard it was coming out, and was looking forward to testing it. I’ve tried a lot of chalk-style paints, as well as made my own, so I wanted to see how it compares.
Enamored with Enamelware
There are a lot of things I’ve collected over the years, but one collection I’ve never gotten tired of is vintage enamelware. It has everything I look for in a collectible item – it fits perfectly with my farmhouse style, it’s affordable, and it can be found in nearly any antique store, as well as yard sales, and thrift shops.
Plant Stand Makeover – Bee Image Transfer
I’d love to tell you that every single project I work on turns out exactly as I envisioned, but that would be SO far from the truth. The truth is, some projects never make it on my blog because they were such disasters, and some are just a comedy of errors during the process – except I’m rarely laughing at the time. I have one of those projects to show you today.
DIY Farmhouse Chalkboard with Rustic Wooden Frame
I have a big empty space on my kitchen wall, just above our antique stove. I don’t do empty spaces. I’ve never been a minimalist. I haven’t left the space empty intentionally, but every time I make something and hang it there, then list it in my shop – it has sold quickly. It makes for great sales, but not for a pretty kitchen. I didn’t want to spend much money, so I designed a farmhouse style rustic wooden frame chalkboard. It’s an easy project that requires very basic {Read More}
Fresh Apples for an Enamelware Pot
Several years ago, I brought home this enamelware pot from an auction. I’m not exactly sure how it was originally used, but it’s shaped like a flower pot, and my best guess is it may have been part of a double boiler. If you know, please let me know! I actually got two of them, and when I bid on them, I assumed they just needed a little cleaning to remove the darkened areas around the outside, but I was wrong. I {Read More}
Spring Printable Antique Sheet Music
Have you seen this video clip that made the rounds on Facebook awhile back? This is precisely how I feel! Are you sick to death of winter yet? I always am by this time of year. I really only like winter when we get snow close to Christmas, but it seems like we always get the majority of our snow in January and February, when I am SO over winter, and am ready for some sunshine and green again. Okay, {Read More}
Vintage Coffee Advertising Trade Card
Today, I have a wonderful image from an 1800’s advertising trade card for Lion Coffee. It’s a collectible trade card that was included in the coffee packages. I think this would be perfect printed as a sign to hang above a coffee station, or used as a label to add to a storage tin. Here’s the reversed image, which can be used for transfer projects, as well. Enjoy and be sure to let me know if you use this image on one {Read More}
